Google One AI Premium is now rolling out Gemini features in Gmail, Docs, and other Workspace apps for personal user accounts. With the aim to enhance productivity, the integration enables users to perform more tasks without the need to constantly switch between tabs or apps. Formerly known as Duet AI, these features unfold cross Gmail and Docs through ‘Help me write’ function accessible in the compose screen in Android, iOS, and the web.
Example of Google One AI Premium integration:
Take aways:
Gemini’s Effect on Gmail and Docs: In Gmail, you can give a prompt, and insert what is generated. One can also write something and then Gemini will be able to ‘Formalize’, ‘Elaborate’, or ‘Shorten’ it. In Google Docs, the features extend further with the addition of ‘Bulletize’, ‘Summarize’, and ‘Tone’ (‘Formal’ or ‘Casual’) refinements. You can also write a ‘Custom’ prompt.
AI-Powered Proofread Feature in Docs: An interesting feature is the AI-powered ‘Proofread’ that not only checks for spelling and grammar but can make suggestions about conciseness, active voice, wording, and sentence splits.
Gemini’s Reach beyond Text: Beyond the enhancements to text content, Gemini extends features to Google Slides where you can create images, while Google Sheets offer ‘Help me organize’ for custom tables and templates.
Gemini is becoming available as part of the Google One AI Premium. The plan costs $19.99 per month, which also activates access to Gemini Advanced (incl. Gemini 1.0 Ultra), as well as 2 TB of storage and other benefits in Photos and Calendar. Currently, Google is offering a two-month free trial to this plan.
